The Building Department administers residential and commercial building projects within the City of Silverton boundaries. This includes plan review, issuing permits, and conducting inspections consistent with all local and state building, safety, municipal and fire codes.
Obtaining a Permit
Building (Structural Permits): Permit applications will be accepted at our office any time during normal office hours. Your application should include a completed application form, a site plan drawn to scale, three sets of building plans, and any engineering, truss, or other applicable information. Your project will first be routed to the Planning and Public Works Divisions for approval and then reviewed for building code compliance. This usually takes about two weeks for residential projects. Commercial projects vary greatly and will depend on the complexity of the project. Plumbing, Electrical, or Mechanical Permits:
Most plumbing, electrical, and mechanical permits can be issued the same day. Permit applications may be submitted in person, by mail, email, or fax. Permit applications received by mail, email, or fax will be entered into our system and a confirmation returned to you by email or fax. You will then need to mail payment or arrange to make your payment in person. At the time payment is received, your permit will be issued. We are currently unable to accept payment online, over the phone, by fax, or by email. The City of Silverton is currently not a part of the State E-permitting system.
