The Mayor has declared a state of emergency pursuant to Chapter 2.44 of the Silverton Municipal Code, beginning February 15, 2021. City Council will adopt a resolution mirroring and superseding this declaration on March 1, 2021.
The declaration continues to allow the City additional flexibility in terms of directing City staff, activating the Emergency Management Organization (EMO), and delegating resources as well as acquiring needed resources related to health and safety.
Having conferred with the City Manager Pro Tem and City Council members, the Mayor finds that the severe winter storm, in addition to COVID-19, constitute a public health and safety crisis that threatens the health, safety, and welfare of the City and the City’s residents.
