Jim received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University and worked as a registered profession Civil Engineer for over 32 years. He retired 7 years ago from Marion County Public Works. For 16 years of his 27 year career with Marion County, Jim was the Director of Solid Waste Management responsible for the county’s solid waste program.
During his last six years, he held the position of Director of Public Works where he oversaw solid waste, engineering, dog control, building, planning, emergency management, fleet, ferry operation, parks, Brooks Water and Sewer District, and the county transportation system. He and his partner Shelly have lived in Silverton for the past 16 years. They have three daughters, two of whom live in Silverton, and five grandchildren with the oldest of them attending Robert Frost Elementary.
