City Manager

The City of Silverton is seeking qualified candidates who want to make a home in a historic and active community. The Council, Staff, and Community desire a committed professional to be part of our team as we invest in the future together. The position of City Manager is the Chief Executive Officer and serves with the Mayor and a six-member City Council, 54 dedicated employees, and 10,558 involved citizens. The City has adopted a $74 M Budget for FY 2023-2024.

The City is seeking interested candidates who will have experience in local government and a committed desire to grow with the organization.  Desire a candidate that can help to lead an organization with an emphasis on organizational growth, strong public service delivery, and working with an active and involved community.

Experience: Successful candidate will have at least 10 years of organizational work experience and 5-7 years of progressive management experience, either as a manager, assistant city manager or department head; Have a strong background in financial management, public works project financing, personnel management, budgeting, and utilities to include water, sewer, and storm water. Prefer experience and a practical understanding of Oregon Land Use and Oregon Budget law especially as these policies apply to the cost of and delivery of public services. 

Education: Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Urban Planning, Public Finance or closely related field.  Preference is an advanced degree in this area balanced with a growing work experience portfolio. Education, experience and administrative management insight will be considered together in the selection process.
